Rafinha calms talk of Schalke return

Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha has rubbished speculation linking him with a return to Schalke.

Rafinha has endured a frustrating season

According to reports in Bild, Schalke are planning to lure Rafinha, 27, back to his first European club providing they manage to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Brazilian, who played for the Royal Blues from 2005 to 2010, has been struggling for game time since his return to the Bundesliga in 2011, and has only started two league matches for the newly crowned German champions this season.

However, when questioned about a possible move, Rafinha said he had heard nothing from Schalke and had no plans to leave Bayern.

“Not for a second have I thought about a transfer. I still have one year on my contract and will stay until then - at least,” he told Abendzeitung.

Before leaving Schalke for an ill-fated season at Genoa in 2010 the defender had featured in 153 league games for the Royal Blues.
