Sassuolo manager Eusebio Di Franceso signs new contract

Eusebio Di Francesco has been rewarded with a new three-year contract after guiding Serie A side Sassuolo to the brink of European football.

On Thursday evening the seventh-placed club announced that 46-year-old Di Francesco, who had been named as a possible successor to Italy boss Antonio Conte, was staying in Sassuolo until 2019.

He had also been tipped to move to AC Milan from the start of next season.

Di Francesco steered the Neroverdi to the Serie B title in 2013 and, despite leaving his post briefly, has since turned the team from a small industrial town into a top-half force.

Sassuolo, who play at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia, are targeting sixth place -- currently occupied by AC Milan -- and with it qualification to the preliminary rounds of the Europa League.
