Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi banned for three matches

Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi has been banned for three Serie A games for aggressive conduct toward Inter Milan defender Juan Jesus.

The Italy under-21 forward -- last season's top scorer for Sassuolo with 16 goals -- was punished by the Lega Serie A for elbowing Juan Jesus during his team's 7-0 defeat at Inter on Sunday.

Berardi, who plays on loan at Sassuolo from Juventus, was shown a straight record for the action.

A statement from the Lega Serie A read: "The sporting judge punishes Berardi with a three-match ban for violent conduct in relation to an action that saw the Sassuolo player in the 59th minute elbow a rival on the neck.''

The 20-year-old will miss the league games against Sampdoria, Fiorentina and Napoli but will be available for selection for Sassuolo's away game at Lazio on Oct. 5.

Sassuolo began the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Cagliari before being demolished by Inter last weekend.
