Sampdoria have hired former Empoli boss Marco Giampaolo as their new head coach.
Giampaolo, 48, has signed a two-year contract at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and succeeds Vincenzo Montella, who left Samp for AC Milan last week.
Switzerland-born Giampaolo had previously been touted as a contender for the Milan job but instead finds himself in Genoa.
