Republic of Ireland will face Iceland in March friendly

Martin O'Neill will send his Republic of Ireland side into friendly battle with Euro 2016 quarterfinalists Iceland in March.

The Football Association of Ireland has announced that Heimir Hallgrimsson's men will head for the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, March 24, four days after Wales visit Dublin in a World Cup qualifier.

Both teams have taken seven points from their opening three games in the new campaign.

Iceland, who are ranked 21st in the world, 10 places higher than Ireland, knocked England out of this summer's finals on their way to the last eight.
