Atlanta 2-3 Minnesota: Loons steal it late (3:04)

Atlanta took the lead with 10 men, but two late goals from Minnesota earned the Loons a shock win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. (3:04)

Kevin Molino struck deep into second-half stoppage time to cap Minnesota United's 3-2 comeback win against 10-man Atlanta United on Tuesday night.

A scoreless first half gave way to a goal fest in the second 45 minutes, when rookie and No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft Abu Danladi scored from long range to give the visiting side a 1-0 lead.

Atlanta were left to play with 10 men just before the hour mark, when Kyle Reynish fouled Danladi outside the penalty area and the referee showed the Atlanta goalkeeper a straight red card after consulting with VAR.

But the hosts found a goal soon after as a series of mistakes in the Minnesota defensive end left Hector Villalba all alone at the top of the penalty area and he fired home a first-time volley to level matters.

Five minutes later, Atlanta took the lead when Julian Gressel picked up a perfect Yamil Asad chip into the Loons' area, cut back to his left foot and put his team up 2-1.

However, Minnesota hit back in the 90th minute, drawing level when Christian Ramirez redirected a wayward shot into the Atlanta net before Molino's late header six minutes into stoppage time gave Minnesota the victory.

Atlanta, which has already qualified for the playoffs, was without Greg Garza for the match after the U.S. international picked up a hamstring injury against New England on Saturday and could miss up to six weeks.
