Goals from Andre-Pierre Gignac and Damian Alvarez helped Tigres secure a place in the CONCACAF Champions League final, defeating the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 at BC Place on Wednesday night.

It was a relatively smooth night for the Liga MX side, who carried a 2-0 advantage on aggregate going into the game.

Brek Shea gave the hosts a glimmer of hope, scoring just three minutes into the match.

But France international Gignac equalised just after the hour mark, curling in a stunning strike from just outside the 18-yard box -- leaving the Whitecaps with too much ground to make up in the final 30 minutes.

With the hosts desperately searching for goals, Alvarez then settled the tie, turning in a loose ball in the Vancouver box in the 84th minute.

The draw sets up yet another all-Mexican final after Pachuca won the other semifinal against FC Dallas on Tuesday.
