Real Salt Lake's Juan Manuel Martinez was suspended one game on Friday for his tackle on Portland's Darlington Nagbe on March 19.

Nagbe was trying to hold off Martinez in stoppage time of the teams' 2-2 draw when the RSL midfielder chopped down the U.S. international from behind.

The incident came after RSL had already had both Kyle Beckerman and Jamison Olave sent off earlier in the game.

Martinez, a designated player, received a yellow card on the play but the league's discipline committee deemed it worthy of a suspension.

The Argentine will now miss Saturday's game against Sporting Kansas City.
