Cristiano Ronaldo to rest but should be fit for Champions League final - reports

Real Madrid's Zinedine Zidane says that Cristiano Ronaldo, Dani Carvajal and Isco will all be fit for the Champions League final.
Barcelona and Real Madrid battled to a 2-2 draw in a Clasico that saw tempers flare and Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale score brilliant goals.
The ESPN FC crew delve into the controversial decisions in El Clasico that saw the derby end in a 2-2 draw.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is sure Barcelona will finish the campaign undefeated after a 2-2 El Clasico draw.

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to be fit for Real Madrid's final La Liga game at Villarreal later this month, according to multiple reports in Spain on Monday, easing fears that a right ankle injury picked up Sunday's Clasico could rule him out of the Champions League final.

Ronaldo sprained his ankle 15 minutes into the 2-2 draw at the Camp Nou while scoring his team's first goal when he was caught by Barcelona defender Gerard Pique. He received treatment on the ankle, then played on until half-time, when he was replaced by Marco Asensio.

Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said afterwards that Ronaldo was worried as the joint had swollen, but said that ahead of tests to be carried out on Monday, Ronaldo was confident there was no serious injury.

Both Marca and AS reported that Ronaldo will not play in Madrid's game at Sevilla on Wednesday or against Celta Vigo on Saturday as he prepares to be fully fit to face Liverpool on May 26 in Kiev, Ukraine.

Madrid did not comment on Ronaldo's fitness after training on Monday, saying in a statement only that "players who started the match at the Camp Nou trained at a lower intensity," but Ronaldo was reported to have been at Valdebebas and working on his recovery.

The club did say, however, that Dani Carvajal -- recovering after injuring a hamstring in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal at Bayern Munich on April 25 -- "worked alone out on the pitch both with and without the ball."

Ronaldo has had trouble with his right ankle before, including an operation in July 2008, when he was at Manchester United, and another injury after moving to Madrid the following summer that cost him two months early in the 2009-10 season.
