Miguel Salgado expects Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Real Madrid

Former Real Madrid defender Miguel Salgado has said he believes the club will keep Cristiano Ronaldo this summer despite uncertainty over the Portugal captain's future.

Ronaldo had indicated he wanted to leave and claimed he was being treated unfairly by Spain's tax authorities, whose "persecution" made him want to leave both Real Madrid and Spain, a source told ESPN FC.

Both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move for Ronaldo, but Real president Florentino Perez said on Monday that he and the club expected Ronaldo to stay.

And Salgado, speaking to reporters in Guatemala, echoed those sentiments and said: "Real Madrid do not want Cristiano to leave.

"He will not find a club that gives him more than Madrid."
