Sergio Ramos back in Real Madrid training after Champions League injury

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos is back in training with his teammates ahead of Wednesday's La Liga trip to Valencia, with Cristiano Ronaldo expected to be available despite sitting out Monday's session.

After a weekend in which the top four all won, Zinedine Zidane's side remain a point clear at the top of the table and have two games in hand.

Coach Zinedine Zidane rested players including Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Keylor Navas for Saturday's 2-0 win at home to Espanyol, in which Gareth Bale took just 12 minutes to score on his return from an ankle operation.

Skipper Ramos was also absent after suffering a bang to his hip in the Champions League win over Napoli, but a club statement said he had made his return to training.

"Real Madrid were back in training as they began to prepare for the match against Valencia," the statement said.

"Sergio Ramos joined the group. Cristiano Ronaldo and Danilo worked inside the facilities."

Zidane is likely to again rotate his team for the midweek trip to the Mestalla, with Madrid facing a tough game at Villarreal next Sunday.

A congested fixture list sees them play eight games in just 23 days up to the Champions League return at Napoli on March 7.
