UFC's Conor McGregor in line for Bernabeu fight - reports

Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium could be set to host a UFC event involving Irish fighter Conor McGregor - according to reports.

Irish radio station Newstalk reported on Friday that McGregor's camp are keen for an event to take place in Europe -- and quoted a spokesperson from Madrid as telling them the Spanish giants would "be glad if we could make a UFC event [and] our stadium can hold more than 80,000 fans" with a potential stadium show taking place between May and July next year.

Madrid have not officially addressed the idea of McGregor, who struck up an unlikely friendship with Cristiano Ronaldo last summer, fighting at the Bernabeu, but both AS and Marca have speculated on the possibility.

Ronaldo's friendship with McGregor emerged in July when he visited the fighter's training camp in Las Vegas and the two squared off inside the octagon.

More recently the fighter's coach John Kavanagh explained that Dubliner McGregor had asked Ronaldo to get him into a VIP party thrown in Las Vegas by Jennifer Lopez, with the Portugal international then spending the night talking to Kavanagh about shared interests in training regimes and the psychology of top level competition.
