Real Madrid say Keylor Navas, Danilo surgeries successful

Real Madrid duo Keylor Navas and Danilo have undergone minor operations in a bid to ensure they are fully fit to begin pre-season training with the club on July 15.

Costa Rica international goalkeeper Navas has missed this summer's Copa America Centenario after it was decided after the Champions League final victory over Atletico Madrid that he needed to stop playing immediately and have an operation on a heel injury which had been troubling him through much of the 2015-16 club season.

Brazil right-back Danilo was not included in the Selecao for the tournament in the U.S. this month after an up-and-down club season, and has taken advantage of the break to also have a procedure on a similar fitness issue.

Madrid have said that both operations were concluded successfully, and AS report the pair will be fine to begin preparations for the 2016-17 campaign when the squad meet to begin pre-season on July 15.

The Blancos club statement on Navas confirmed that the Central American would remain in Spain to begin rehab work now.

"Today in Madrid, our player Keylor Navas underwent a successful endoscopy on his left heel," the statement said. "The procedure was carried out by doctors Niek van Dijk, Helder Pereira, Pedro Luis Ripoll, Mariano de Prado, and was supervised by Real Madrid Sanitas medical services. The player will stay in Madrid to begin work on his rehabilitation immediately."

Madrid's communication regarding Danilo also said that the ex-Porto player had already started his recovery.

"Today in Madrid, our player Danilo underwent a successful endoscopy on his right heel," the statement said. "The procedure was carried out by doctors Niek van Dijk, Helder Pereira, Pedro Luis Ripoll, Mariano de Prado, and was supervised by the Real Madrid Sanitas medical services. The player will stay in Madrid to start work on his rehabilitation immediately."
