Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane expects tough Manchester City test

MADRID -- Zinedine Zidane has warned his Real Madrid players that Manchester City are capable of punishing his side if they are not totally focused in their Champions League semifinal.

Zidane said he expects another tight match at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night following the 0-0 draw in last Tuesday's first leg in Manchester.

The Madrid boss is set to have Cristiano Ronaldo back in his squad after declaring that the Portuguese forward is "100 percent" but has doubts over Karim Benzema and Casemiro, who missed training on Tuesday with hamstring and hip injuries respectively.

Los Blancos have not conceded a goal in this year's competition at home but Zidane has warned that City are more than capable of spoiling that record to reach their first ever Champions League final.

He told a news conference: "It is going to be very complex, more than the first leg because we know everything will be decided tomorrow. We are going to prepare as we always do, respecting the opponent.

"They have very good players, especially attacking players. I cannot say we are going to score two or three goals -- that doesn't exist in football. It is a totally different match but we are ready.

"We know we are going to be under pressure from minute one to 90 or more, and the important thing is we are ready for that."

Zidane said he will not pay special attention to City's top scorer Sergio "Kun" Aguero, insisting that City have plenty of goal threats throughout the team.

"'Kun' is a fundamental player for City, but we're not going to do anything special [to stop him]," he added.

"Like all the players that will play tomorrow, we are going to give them importance, but nothing more. What we do ourselves on the pitch is more important.

"Tomorrow they are going to have a very strong team as a whole and they're going to try to win that match and try to go to the final.

"There's going to be difficult moments in the match for sure but by being patient we can get something tomorrow and that's what we're going to try to do."

Both Real Madrid and City struggled to create chances in the first half of the first leg at the Etihad, although the Spanish side improved after the break and forced three fine saves from keeper Joe Hart.

Zidane added: "We hope we can have 90 minutes like in the second half [in Manchester] and especially score, which is the most important thing in football.

"We have to think about ourselves and work the same, try to press and to apply all the intensity and focus for a Champions League semifinal. At the same time we have an opponent we know is going to make it difficult."
