Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane: We are in a good place mentally

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane said his team were in a good place after Saturday afternoon's 5-1 win at Getafe kept up the pressure on Barcelona in La Liga's title race.

Goals from Karim Benzema, Isco, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo gave Madrid a seventh straight La Liga win, against bottom side Getafe.

The three points moved Zidane's side above Atletico Madrid into second spot in the table, and to within one point of stumbling leaders Barcelona -- ahead of Atletico hosting Granada and Valencia visiting Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

Asked to predict where Barca or Atletico might drop points over their last six games and let Madrid take over on top, the Los Blancos coach told his postmatch news conference that he was just focusing on what his side could do themselves.

"I don't know when they might slip up," Zidane said. "But today we go to bed just one point off the top, and the two must play tomorrow. We'll see what happens. We'll watch their games, but the most important thing is what we do ourselves.

"We must rest now and on Wednesday we have a home game against a very difficult Villarreal team. Today is three very, very important points. The good thing for us is that mentally we are in a good place."

Isco and James did not play midweek against Wolfsburg in Madrid's Champions League quarterfinal second leg, but both completed the 90 minutes against Getafe.

"I'm very happy with them, they both scored," Zidane said. "It is not easy as they did not play [midweek]. But what is important for us is that they do phenomenal when they have a chance to play. To achieve anything, we must all believe that we can. Today from the start we showed we wanted to do well, all of the players played a serious game, a fantastic game, respecting the rival."

Ronaldo again played the full 90 minutes, scoring in injury time to move to 31 La Liga goals this season and stretch his lead to five over Barcelona's Luis Suarez in the Pichichi top scorer race. The Portuguese has played every minute in La Liga so far this season, but Zidane said it was possible he could give him a rest at some point.

"Today we gave a rest to Gareth and Karim," he added. "We will see what happens later. [Ronaldo] has been playing well, he scored today. When Cristiano scores he is always happier."

Ex-Madrid youngster Pablo Sarabia netted a late consolation for Getafe, after previously being denied by the latest superb intervention from Blancos goalkeeper Keylor Navas when the home side were awarded an indirect free kick just six yards out.

"Keylor is doing the same as Cristiano, and the other players," Zidane said. "He is very happy with what he is doing. He is showing he is one of the best goalkeepers around. He is very, very focused on what he is doing."
