Roberto Carlos: 'I can see one day Neymar coming to Real Madrid'

Former Brazil and Real Madrid left-back Roberto Carlos says he could see Neymar playing for the Bernabeu club one day.

The Brazilian helped Los Blancos to a Champions League title in 2002, providing the assist for Zinedine Zidane's wonder-volley in the final against Bayer Leverkusen at Hampden Park.

Neymar finished third in the Ballon d'Or voting behind winner Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday. Roberto Carlos has no doubt his countryman will finish even higher next year, and added he could envision the Brazil captain in Madrid at some point.

"Neymar is very young," Roberto Carlos told Punto Pelota. "I am sure next year he will finish even higher in the Ballon d'Or.

"I can see one day Neymar coming to Real Madrid."

Zidane was appointed Real boss last week after Rafa Benitez was sacked just six months into his tenure. He has spoken to his former teammate about a possible coaching role with the team.

"I had a meeting with Real Madrid about my future with the club," said the 42-year-old. "Soon we will know how to collaborate with Zidane's Madrid."
