Gareth Bale and Dani Carvajal train ahead of Sevilla match

Gareth Bale and Dani Carvajal both returned to training for Real Madrid as the club prepare to face Sevilla on Sunday, though Marcelo and Keylor Navas are set to sit out the match, according to Spanish media reports.

Marcelo and Navas, who is also a doubt for the match at the Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium because of a recurrence of a groin strain, were missing from training, as was Karim Benzema following his arrest this week.

Navas stayed indoors and worked with the physios in an attempt to alleviate soreness. Kiko Casilla is likely to start his second league fixture in his place.

Also on Thursday, the club said that Marcelo was diagnosed with a left hamstring muscle spasm and was treated at the hospital Sanitas-La Moraleja. The Brazilian limped out of Tuesday's Champions League 1-0 Group A win over Paris Saint-Germain after picking up the injury midway through the first half of the game at the Bernabeu.

Navas, Pepe, Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, James Rodriguez, Bale and Benzema have all missed games recently with muscle strains or tears.

Bale has struggled with calf problems this term and played just 45 minutes on his return from international duty before being taken off in the victory over Levante at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As for Carvajal, he has recently been unavailable with an ankle problem.

Benzema returned to Spain on Thursday afternoon, according to Spanish media reports. The France striker was charged on Thursday in Paris with conspiracy to blackmail and participating in a criminal group as part of an investigation over a sex tape involving French teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

Benzema was also placed under judicial supervision, meaning he cannot meet with the victim -- Valbuena -- or other people charged in the case.

He can, however, continue to live abroad and travel freely, so Real Madrid should not be affected by the charges.
