Real Madrid boost as James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema and Pepe set to return

Real Madrid stars James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema and Pepe could all return from injury in Saturday's La Liga clash with Las Palmas at the Bernabeu.

Madrid coach Rafa Benitez has already had to plan without 10 different first-team players in recent weeks -- as Gareth Bale, Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, Danilo, Alvaro Arbeloa, Mateo Kovacic and Dani Carvajal have all missed at least two games with different fitness issues.

This has led to some questioning of the club's medical department, however both Benitez and club doctor Ximo Mas have denied that there are any structural problems to blame, just the usual heavy schedule which all big clubs face at this time of the season.

Benitez looks likely to get a boost ahead of Saturday's game against the struggling Canary Islanders, with a club statement revealing that James, Pepe, Benzema and Arbeloa had all taken some part in Tuesday's group training session at the club's Valdebebas complex.

"Real Madrid's week of training has gotten underway," the statement read. "After winning in Vigo, the La Liga leaders are now preparing for Saturday's match against UD Las Palmas. The big news of the day was that James, Pepe, Benzema and Arbeloa were all present on the training pitch. The first two focused on ball work by themselves on training pitch 3.

"Meanwhile, the French striker finished out the first half of the session with the rest of the group and then carried out a number of ball work exercises with Arbeloa, who had been jogging by himself beforehand."

Bale was not mentioned in the update, as he continues his recovery from his latest calf muscle injury, although he did tweet positively about his current fitness situation.

Benitez will want to get as many of his big stars match fit quickly, with upcoming fixtures including a Champions League group decider at home to Paris Saint-Germain on Nov. 3, a tricky La Liga trip to Sevilla on Nov. 8 and the looming El Clasico at home to Barcelona on Nov. 21.
