Real Madrid do not pass to Gareth Bale enough, says agent Jonathan Barnett

Gareth Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett claims that his client's slump in form is down to the fact that his Real Madrid teammates do not give him enough of the ball.

Bale, 25, has scored in just two of his past 18 games and has been booed by the Madrid fans for his recent performances after joining the club in 2013 for a world-record fee of £85 million.

Madrid slipped to a 2-2 draw against Valencia on Saturday, putting their title hopes in doubt as they sit four points behind leaders Barcelona with only two games left to play.

However, Barnett insists that Bale should be seen as the saviour, not the scapegoat, if the club play to his strengths.

"Real have to work with Gareth and pass the ball to him more," he told The Telegraph. "Give him more of the ball and let him show everybody what he's good at.

"He's going to be the best player at Real Madrid when his teammates work with him and help him. Hopefully Real will come to terms with this."

Bale is annoyed at his current situation, but Barnett claims that his desire to prove his detractors wrong will make him stronger.

"Most people would have been broken by this but he is determined," he added. "He could have screamed and shouted or knocked on the manager's office door but he doesn't want to upset anyone.

"I spoke to him on Thursday and while he's obviously p----- off things aren't going well he is desperate to get out there again."

Barnett also played down rumours linking Bale with a return to the Premier League, with Manchester United believed to be monitoring him.

"Every top club in the world would want to sign him but he will be at Real Madrid next season," Barnett insisted.

"There's no way he is going anywhere in the summer. When we said he always wanted to play for Real, it was 100 percent true and he's determined to be a success there."
