Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti: Barcelona defeat will make us stronger

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti insists that his side will learn from their Clasico defeat to Barcelona and it will make them a better team in the future.

Madrid have fallen four-points behind their rivals at the top of La Liga after a wonderful end to 2014 had seen them in pole position for the title. However, 2015 has not been as impressive and Ancelotti's men were beaten 2-1 at Camp Nou on March 22 to hand the advantage to Barca.

But the Italian, who won the Champions League and Copa del Rey last season, believes that his players will come back stronger.

He said: "The defeat was hard, but the sensations were good because they returned to play as we wanted and as we know. That will help us win more in the future."

Madrid progressed to the quarterfinals of the Champions League with a less than convincing win over Schalke and face city rivals Atletico next, with Ancelotti adamant that retaining the trophy is his priority.

"As I always say, the first objective is to reach the Champions League final and the second is overcome the opposition in the final," he added.

"This Real Madrid has all the conditions to compete at all levels in all competitions, so the goal is to win."
