Lucas Silva pleased to have joined 'best team in the world' Real Madrid

Lucas Silva has said it is "a dream come true" to have signed for Real Madrid from Cruzeiro.

Madrid completed a deal for the 21-year-old on Friday, before officially unveiling him at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday.

The midfielder, who passed his medical prior to the presentation, will wear the No. 16 shirt and is expected to train with the first-team squad later on Monday evening.

"I'm very happy to be here, it's a dream come true," Lucas Silva is quoted as saying by AS. "I thank God and both presidents of Cruzeiro and Real Madrid and everybody involved in my presentation. I'm really happy. I come here to learn and to help out.

"It really is a dream and I'm so happy with the way everything has gone. It's come soon in my career, but I feel I'm ready to wear the Real Madrid shirt and perform as I did at Cruzeiro. I was once here before at the Bernabeu with my father and brother and remember my father wearing the famous white shirt.

"I've always liked Madrid since I was small. I've watched many Real Madrid games and always select them when playing video games. They are the best team in the world and I'm so happy to be here. Many thanks to everyone."

Madrid president Florentino Perez was on hand to help unveil the club's latest signing, introducing the player to reporters at the Bernabeu's presidential box.

"All that I ask is that you give everything, all your passion, to this team and this club," Perez is quoted by Marca as telling Lucas Silva. "We're world champions, but there's no room for complacency. Nothing is ever good enough."
