Real Madrid's James Rodriguez set to miss FIFA Club World Cup

Carlo Ancelotti has all but ruled out James Rodriguez for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco.

James, 23, hobbled off the field in Saturday's 3-0 win over Celta after suffering an injury to his right calf muscle.

Ancelotti told Mediaset on Sunday that he is not optimistic about the Colombia international's chances of recovering in time for the tournament.

"I don't think James will be able to play," Ancelotti said. "Calf injuries take a while to heal; it's difficult to see him recovering in time."

Los Blancos will join six other sides for the tournament in Morocco, and will play the winners of the match between Western Sydney Wanderers and Cruz Azul in the semifinals on Dec. 16.

Real's win over Celta equalled the Spanish record of 18 successive victories, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a record-breaking 23rd Primera Division hat trick to cement top spot in the table.
