Real Madrid and Wales forward Gareth Bale has been shortlisted for the prestigious BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
Bale, 25, cost Real Madrid 100 million euros when he joined the Spanish club from Tottenham last summer and he helped his new side to win their 10th Champions League title in May -- scoring the winning goal against Atletico Madrid -- as well as picking up the Copa del Rey and UEFA Super Cup trophies too.
The Welshman has also played a major role in Wales' unbeaten start to Euro 2016 qualifying, but is tipped to miss out for the award to golfer Rory McIlroy.
Others to be nominated include Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and boxer Carl Froch, who retained his WBA and IBF super-middleweight titles with victory over George Groves in May.
