Lopez, 32, was whistled by his own team's fans during Saturday's 5-0 La Liga win over Rayo Vallecano, with the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu taking out its frustration at slipping to third in the table on a player who some consider has usurped the goalkeeping position which belongs to club captain Iker Casillas.

This led to speculation that the Galician keeper was fed up with constant focus on his individual duel with Casillas, and would take the chance to join either AC Milan or Napoli next season.

But Manuel Garcia Quilon told AS that Lopez was strong enough to overcome the pressure, and had no intention of leaving the Bernabeu club.

"[Lopez] has a very strong personality, and is focused on his work," said Quilon. "I have not received any calls, not from Milan or from Napoli.

"As things are today, I believe that Diego Lopez will stay at Real Madrid next season."

It remains likely that one of Lopez or Casillas will move on this summer, with Manchester City among the clubs reportedly interested in taking the latter to England.

Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti has split goalkeeping duties between the two players by selecting Lopez for every single Primera Division game this season, with Casillas taking over for Champions League and Copa del Rey matches.
