Reading wrap up Drenthe signing

Reading have completed the signing of one-time Real Madrid and Everton winger Royston Drenthe, who has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Berkshire club.

Drenthe, 26, comes to Reading - who were relegated from the Premier League last season, a year after their promotion to the top flight - from Russian club Alania Vladikavkaz.

The move needs final confirmation from the Russian football authorities and Alania.

Drenthe, who joined Everton on loan from Real in 2011, playing 21 times and scoring three goals before moving to Russia in February, becomes Royals boss Nigel Adkins’ second signing of the summer.

Former Saints manager Adkins has already wrapped up a move for defender Wayne Bridge, who spent last season on loan at play-off semi-finalists Brighton.
