Leipzig's Timo Werner not bothered by criticism after dive - Ralph Hasenhuttl

Leipzig coach Ralph Hasenhuttl does not believe that Timo Werner is going to suffer psychologically from his controversial penalty in last weekend's 2-1 win over Schalke.

Werner fell as he passed Schalke goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann and he later admitted he had dived, although he said he had been knocked off balance by Schalke defender Naldo.

Werner converted the spot-kick, but his actions have been the source of much discussion in Germany all week -- all of which Hasenhuttl says has not got to the 20-year-old.

"I put it behind us pretty quickly and it hasn't been an issue for us all week," Hasenhuttl said at a news conference. "I have also not had the feeling that it has bothered him in any way.

"Timo has not been known as a diver up to now, although it wasn't a good situation for him.

"People will be looking at him closer now, but that shouldn't influence his game."

Hasenhuttl is therefore hoping to see the best of Werner this weekend, when his side will aim to conserve or increase a three-point advantage over Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga when they face Ingolstadt.

"We're getting close to the highlight [of facing Bayern on Dec. 21] and we want to get ourselves really warmed up for it," he added.
