RB Leipzig's Lukas Klostermann out for several months with injury

RB Leipzig right-back Lukas Klostermann has been sidelined for several months after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament tear.

Klostermann, 20, had been one of the rising stars in the Bundesliga and was named as a potential candidate for the Germany squad by coach Joachim Low after impressing at the 2016 Olympic Games.

However, the Bochum youth academy graduate suffered a major setback on Tuesday when he sustained a knee injury in training.

"Lukas Klostermann has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear in training and will not be available for selection for several months," Leipzig said in a statement on their official website. "The defender sustained the injury in training on Tuesday."

Klostermann joined Leipzig from Bochum in the summer of 2014 and was a key player as the club won promotion to the Bundesliga last season.

He featured in 30 league games last term and made his Bundesliga debut in Saturday's 1-0 win against Borussia Dortmund.
