Rangers' Defoe uninjured after car crash

Jermain Defoe was involved in a car crash after Scottish side Rangers' win against Aberdeen at Ibrox on Saturday but was not seriously injured in the collision, the club confirmed.

The Scottish Premiership side said on Twitter that they were "happy and relieved to say that no one was seriously injured."

Defoe, who made just short of 500 appearances in the Premier League for West Ham, Tottenham, Portsmouth, Sunderland and Bournemouth, came on as a substitute and scored as Rangers beat Aberdeen 5-0 on earlier on Saturday.

The former England striker later posted a message on Instagram in which he reiterated he was OK after the crash.

"Thank you for your lovely messages, I know you must have been so worried," he said.

"I'm fine, I'm all good. I'm just going to go home and rest up. Still a bit in shock, but I'm all good.

"Thanks for all your messages again."
