Rangers sign Nicky Clark

Rangers have made Queen of the South striker Nicky Clark their latest summer signing as they attempt to assemble a squad capable of winning the Scottish Second Division.

Craig Mather will act as a temporary replacement for Charles Green at Ibrox
Nicky Clark was named PFA Scotland second division player of the year.

Clark, 21, joins the likes of Jon Daly, Nicky Law and Cammy Bell in joining the club and will sign a three-year contract on September 1 when Rangers’ transfer embargo is lifted.

Clark scored 41 goals for Queens as they won the Second Division title last season and comes with a pedigree as the son of former Rangers striker Sandy Clark, who played alongside manager Ally McCoist during his time at Ibrox.

“As soon as I heard Rangers were interested in me I didn’t want to go anywhere else. This club is amazing,” he said. “The fanbase here is amazing, even in the third division there were 48,000-plus at Ibrox. So to get the chance to come in and play in front of that next season, I’m delighted.

“I want to be part of the journey back to where this club belongs, in the SPL and in Europe. You see last week with the players the club has signed, there is great ability in the squad and I’m sure there will be a couple more to come in.

“That can only benefit me in terms of my career, coming in and playing with these boys. I’m really looking forward to getting started. Last season was the best I have had in my career so far. It was amazing to win the league as early as we did and to win the Ramsdens Cup as well.

“But now I’m a Rangers player and I will work as hard as I can for the team and give everything, 110% every week. I did that last season so that will not change and hopefully I can score as many goals as I can. I will give it my best shot and hopefully we can win the league again.”
