Ronaldinho set to leave Queretaro after just one season in Liga MX

Brazilian star Ronaldinho's time at Mexican side Queretaro appears to be coming to an end, with manager Victor Manuel Vucetich confirming on Tuesday that the club is looking to offload the 35-year-old.

"It will depend on various factors and things, but the idea is that he no longer participates for us," Vucetich told reporters in Cancun at Liga MX's annual draft.

Ronaldinho signed for Queretaro last September in a shock move, but the Brazilian turned up late for the team's preseason over the winter and made headlines when he left the stadium after being substituted before halftime in a playoff game against Pachuca last month.

Vucetich added that there could be definitive news about Ronaldinho's future very soon, although if the World Cup winner is to stay in Mexico, a deal would have to be struck before Wednesday's transfer deadline. Reports from Spain have recently linked Ronaldinho to Los Angeles Galaxy.

The experienced coach seemed to suggest that while Ronaldinho has been a success in terms of raising Queretaro's profile, Vucetich isn't convinced that signing veteran stars is the way forward.

"Marketing-wise it was an enormous success, he's got great quality, but we need players that contribute in all aspects," said Vucetich. "Mexican soccer needs people that are on the up, not on the slide and that is very important for the league."

Ronaldinho gradually lost his starting spot for Queretaro after Vucetich took over in February and was only used off the bench in both legs of the Clausura 2015 final against Santos Laguna.
