Five managers who could succeed Harry Redknapp at QPR

Queens Park Rangers are in the hunt for a new manager after Harry Redknapp resigned on Tuesday, leaving the club languishing second bottom of the Premier League table. Here, Press Association Sport looks at five contenders for the vacant job at Loftus Road.

TIM SHERWOOD

The former Tottenham boss is the clear favourite, not least because he worked with QPR's head of football operations Les Ferdinand and first-team coach Chris Ramsey at White Hart Lane. The former Blackburn midfielder left Spurs with the highest win percentage in the club's Premier League history.

LES FERDINAND

Ferdinand has been placed in temporary charge together with Ramsey and he may be given the chance to lead the team against Southampton on Saturday. Brought to the club by Redknapp in October, the former Loftus Road striker needs no time to settle and is a popular figure among the fans.

GLENN HODDLE

The 57-year-old joined Redknapp's coaching team in August and is well-respected within the game for his tactical expertise. The former Chelsea and Tottenham boss has not managed a club since leaving Wolves in 2006.

STEVE McCLAREN

McClaren's stock is on the rise, with his current side Derby sitting second in the Championship and winning plaudits for their attractive style of play this season. The former England manager has experience in the Premier League and knows the setup at QPR, having worked briefly as Redknapp's No. 2 in 2013.

RAFA BENITEZ

The Spaniard took over mid-season at Chelsea in 2012 and, under difficult circumstances, led the Blues to third place and victory in the Europa League final. The former Liverpool coach is expected to leave Napoli when his contract expires at the end of the season, and may be persuaded to bring his departure forward for a return to England.
