QPR swoop for Jenas and Townsend
QPR boss Harry Redknapp has made deadline day moves for Tottenham players Jermaine Jenas and Andros Townsend.
Jenas has signed an 18-month contract, and the 29-year-old said linking up with his old manager had been a key factor in his decision to move to Loftus Road.
"I'm happy to be here," he said. "This is my third deadline day move. It’s always frantic, but thankfully we’ve managed to get it done.
"It's great to be linking up with Harry again - him being here was key to me making the move. I know what he brings as a manager and, on a personal level, it’s an opportunity for me to play football.
"It's no secret I’ve had some injury problems in the last couple of years, but this is a great opportunity for me to play in the Premier League and hopefully keep this club where they belong."
Townsend, an England Under-21 international, said he was hopeful he would have the opportunity to win a first-team place after waiting in the wings behind Spurs' more experienced wide players.
"Andros is a kid with a fantastic future," Redknapp said. "I like Andros an awful lot. He’s a winger, he’s strong, he's quick, he’s brave and he scores goals.
"He's unlucky that he's got [Gareth] Bale and [Aaron] Lennon keeping him out of the team. I think eventually he'll become a big player."
