PSV Eindhoven and Valencia have reached an agreement for the transfer of Mexican defender Andres Guardado to the Dutch club on a permanent basis, technical manager Marcel Brands said on Friday.

Guardado has been on loan to PSV for the past year with one year left on his contract after this season at Valencia. PSV announced they will offer Guardado a three-year deal upon his return to Europe from action with the Mexico national team this week.

PSV will pay the transfer fee to Valencia, currently ranked third in La Liga.

"We are pleased that after a trial period this season he can stay with PSV," said Marcel Brands

Guardado saw limited time at Valencia in early 2014, and his subsequent loan to German club Bayer Leverkusen in the second half of last season stalled his career until he was paird with PSV last summer.

The 28-year-old has played 29 games for the Eredivisie leaders, who have an eight-point lead at the top of the league.

"From the moment I arrived in Eindhoven, I noticed the people love me," Guardado told NESN after Mexico practice earlier this week. "I want to play for PSV for a long time. It's not me. I hope Valencia sells me to PSV."
