Mintal suffers another fracture on comeback

FRANKFURT, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Slovakia striker Marek Mintal is unlikely to play again this season after fracturing a bone in his foot just six minutes into his FC Nuremberg comeback.

Mintal, the leading scorer in the Bundesliga last season, played just three matches over the first half of the current campaign before being forced out with his original foot injury.

That healed in time for him to take the field against Hamburg SV on Saturday but the 28-year-old suffered another fracture in the same foot almost immediately.

'The old break has healed -- this is a fresh fracture,' Nuremberg doctor Jochen Druber explained on the club's website.

Mintal had an operation after the match, which Nuremberg won 2-1, and the club said he was unlikely to be fit before the end of the season.
