PSG miss out on second place

PARIS, Jan 12 (Reuters) - A late goal by Daniel Moreira earned lowly Toulouse a 1-0 home win against Paris St Germain in Ligue 1 on Thursday.

A win would have lifted the Parisians to second in the standings but instead they remained fourth on 34 points from 21 matches, trailing leaders Olympique Lyon by 16 points.

Four-times champions Lyon snatched a 2-1 win over Olympique Marseille on Wednesday and are marching towards a record fifth consecutive title.

Despite the win, Toulouse stay 16th in the league and are 11 points above the relegation zone.

Former French international striker Moreira latched on to a Fode Mansare cross to give the home side a deserved victory.

The Ligue 1 resumes on Saturday, with Lyon visiting promoted Nancy.

AJ Auxerre entertain RC Lens while Italy striker Christian Vieri will make his Monaco debut against second-placed Girondins Bordeaux.
