Nigeria's participation in the Confederations Cup could be in doubt following a row over players' bonuses.

The Super Eagles were scheduled to begin the long trip to Belo Horizonte in Brazil on Thursday where they will begin their Confederations Cup campaign against Tahiti on Monday.

But reports suggest that they remain in Africa after refusing to travel while concerns continue over the size of bonus payments the players are demanding.

It is claimed they were offered $2,500 for the 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw against Namibia in Windhoek but they want double that amount.

Aminu Maigari, the president of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), met the team on Wednesday night in an attempt to settle the dispute and explain that there is no choice but to make cuts because of financial issues.

The NFF have had to cut the backroom staff of various national sides following an expensive Africa Cup of Nations campaign in South Africa.
