Pavlovic and the Phoenix part ways

Striker Mirjan Pavlovic's contract with the Wellington Phoenix has been terminated by mutual consent, the A-League soccer franchise says.

The news follows a statement from the Phoenix last month that the 23-year-old Croatia-born footballer had a medical condition which restricted his ability to play professional soccer.

Pavlovic made 25 appearances for the Phoenix, joining the club in 2010 on a youth contract after making his A-League debut for the Newcastle Jets the previous year.

He played 16 games last season despite breaking his arm 11 days before the October 9 kickoff.

Pavlovic has since been on loan to New South Wales premier league team Sydney United 58 FC.

A statement from the Phoenix on Wednesday said management wanted to thank Pavlovic for his services and wished him every success in his football career.
