Allegri: We have to improve

Adam Digby, Italy Correspondent

After watching his AC Milan side comprehensively outplayed by Real Madrid at Yankee Stadium, Massimiliano Allegri warned his players they must improve if they are to close the gap on champions Juventus in the coming season.

Allegri, having watched so many of the old guard leave and having sold both Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Paris Saint-Germain, thinks concentration is a major issue for his new-look side.

"We close the US tour with a heavy defeat, but with the knowledge that we have worked well for the future," he told reporters after the game. "Real are a well-oiled squad with lots of quality, but this beating should help us understand to play every game in the right manner.

"We must emerge with the desire to do well. We did pretty well in the first half, when we managed to create something more than in the second period, but you must have concentration and desire, because when you don't you risk taking on board a thrashing like this."
