Cameron to undergo Stoke medical

Stoke have taken a step closer to confirming the transfer of United States international Geoff Cameron, with the Houston Dynamos defender set to undergo a medical on Wednesday afternoon.

Cameron, 27, is the subject of a reported 1.7 million bid from Stoke and will make his move to the Britannia Stadium subject to passing a medical and approval of his work permit application.

Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes told the club's official website: "Whilst we would not normally confirm a transfer until everything is complete, we have agreed a fee and personal terms in this instance and the player will now join up with the squad in Orlando to have his medical.

"Assuming that this goes according to plan, the completion of the transfer will then be subject to us obtaining a work permit, which will probably be done by way of an appeal by early August ahead of the new season.''

Cameron would become Stoke's second major summer transfer, following the arrival of Scottish midfielder Jamie Ness from Rangers on a free transfer.
