Peru Cup qualifier stopped after five players allegedly feign injury
A Peru Cup referee halted the first leg of a La Bocana and Defensor Bolívar tie eight minutes early after five Defensor Bolivar players apparently feigned injury at the same time in an alleged bid to have a match they were losing abandoned according to reports.
Bolivar were losing 4-1 and lost another goal as their players writhed on the ground, according to Depor.
Having already had two men sent off, the referee was obligated halt the game early since at least seven players are required on each side.
Thursday's second leg is in doubt as officials determine whether to sanction Bolivar. The winners of the regional qualifier will advance to the national competition.
