Porto defender Alex Telles open to representing Italy instead of Brazil

After Graziano Pelle was sent home by Italy boss Giampiero Ventura, the FC crew criticise the striker's behaviour.

Porto's Brazilian defender Alex Telles says he would welcome a call from Italy coach Giampiero Ventura, with family ties meaning he is eligible to represent the Azzurri.

Telles, 23, joined Porto in the summer after spending last season on loan at Inter Milan and he is hoping his performances for the Portuguese club can help him catch Ventura's eye.

"I may be Brazilian, but my great grandparents are Italian and I feel Italian," he told Gazzetta dello Sport. "I just have to think about doing a good...

Xavi feels that Barca's relative struggles this year can be partly attributed to the increased competitiveness of La Liga.

Gelson Martins made his first-team debut for Sporting Lisbon last year.

Ariedo Braida, Barca's international director of sports, has confirmed he...

Not even Benfica's long-serving and ambitious president, Luis Filipe Vieira, could have predicted it would have such...

Sporting Lisbon want Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo to return

Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale reflect on winning an unprecedented 11th Champions League trophy in 2015.

Sporting Lisbon president Bruno de Carvalho wants Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo to end his playing career with the Portuguese club.

Ronaldo, 31, began his career at Sporting and will face the club when Madrid launch their Champions League title defence on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Asked if bringing Ronaldo back to the club was an aim, De Carvalho told Marca: "Yes, without a doubt, I would love for Ronaldo to end his career here, at home.

"He represents a lot for us and it...
