Zhang Li given six-game ban for 'causing chaos' in Demba Ba clash

The Chinese football authorities have banned Changchun Yatai's Zhang Li for six games after he was found guilty of "causing chaos" during an altercation with ex-Chelsea striker Demba Ba in the Chinese Super League last weekend.

Zhang was also fined 42,000 yuan (£4,800) after the Chinese Football Association ruled that the midfielder had "interfered with the order of the game and caused chaos that had a negative effect for the public" during Changchun's 1-1 draw with Shanghai Shenhua.

Shanghai Shenhua have alleged that star striker Demba Ba was the subject of racist remarks during a Chinese Super League match on Saturday night. 

Late in the 1-1 draw with Changchun Yatai, the former Senegal international collided with Tan Tiancheng and then became visibly angry at apparent comments from Changchun midfielder Zhang Li.

"We had an unpleasant incident in the game," Shanghai coach Wu Jingui told reporters. "Demba Ba was very angry.

Demba Ba returns to Besiktas from Shanghai Shenhua

Demba Ba returns to Besiktas after leaving the Turkish club in 2015.

Demba Ba has left Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua to return to Besiktas, the Turkish side confirmed on Tuesday.

Former Newcastle United and Chelsea striker Ba, 31, rejoined the club he left midway through 2015 to move to the CSL after successfully completing a medical on Monday.

Ba was prolific during his time in the China, scoring 14 times in 18 games in the 2016 season before breaking his leg in his side's meeting with cross-city rivals Shanghai SIPG in July.

Shanghai Shenhua striker Demba Ba has a good chance of returning to football, according to the surgeon set to operate on him following his serious leg injury.

Demba Ba insists he won't retire following broken leg

Ex-Chelsea striker Demba Ba has no intention of retiring early from football despite suffering a horrific leg break.

The 31-year-old, who also used to play for West Ham and Newcastle, suffered a fractured left tibia playing for Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua on Sunday.
