Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival to Serie A a 'leap of quality' - Federico Fazio

New Real Madrid head coach Julen Lopetegui insists the club has the players to succeed this season despite the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Roma defender Federico Fazio has called the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus a "leap of quality" for Serie A and said he looks forward to competing against the former Real Madrid striker.

Fazio, 31, and Roma are in the United States for the International Champions Cup and will face Ronaldo's former team on Tuesday, Aug. 7 (8:05 p.m. ET on ESPN).

And ahead of the match, the Argentina international told ESPN Deportes in an exclusive interview: "It's important that important quality players...

Missed chance by Gerson part of rough day for Roma against Chievo

Roma saw their title hopes dented by wasteful finishing and a wonderful performance by Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino, who was on hand to push away anything that the Giallorossi managed to put on target.

Roma had more than two-thirds of possession and 26 shots -- more than any other team this season -- and while veteran Sorrentino was on top form to deny Roma, it was the away side's profligacy that stopped them from returning south with all three points.

If Patrik Schick was unlucky to see...

Radja Nainggolan, Diego Perotti fire Roma past Lazio in Derby della Capitale

Radja Nainggolan will finally leave Roma this summer.
Radja Nainggolan delivered another commanding performance and scored the eventual winner vs. rivals Lazio.

Roma send a major Scudetto signal after winning a pulsating Rome derby that saw the Giallorossi dominate local rivals Lazio in a match played out in front of a packed, raucous Stadio Olimpico. After the national team's World Cup disaster earlier in the week, the derby Saturday night truly showcased the very best of Italian football.

Diego Perotti and Radja Nainggolan celebrated their respective returns to the international fold by winning the derby with two goals in four second half minutes, the...

Super-sub Federico Fazio can't inspire Roma to a draw with Napoli

Roma have a lot of work to do after a narrow defeat to Serie A leaders Napoli exposed some familiar weaknesses, despite an encouraging second half that showed that they're agonisingly close to matching the league's best.

Lorenzo Insigne's 20th minute close range daisy cutter -- laid on a plate for him by Daniele De Rossi stumbling over a whizzing ball -- was enough for the Partenopei to return south with three points and a five-point lead over champions Juventus, but Maurizio Sarri's team almost...

Roma still in position to have a successful season, despite negative perception

Sunday is judgement day in Serie A.

A draw against Roma at the Olimpico will be enough for Juventus to win an unprecedented sixth straight title, and with the Coppa Italia final now rescheduled for Wednesday, two-thirds of a historic treble can be completed in a matter of days.

Roma, meanwhile, will be without Serie A capocannoniere Edin Dzeko and, possibly, their most dangerous midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who remains a doubt for a game the Giallorossi absolutely must win if they...

Dzeko unrecognisable, Roma fall apart in the second half at Lyon

Roma's season looks increasingly like it's coming to its traditional early spring end after an embarrassing second-half collapse at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais that leaves the Giallorossi with, if not a mountain, then a very steep hill to climb in the second leg of their Europa League tie with Lyon.

Forty-five minutes into Thursday night's match Roma looked good for the quarterfinals after coming back from an early Mouctar Diakhaby goal to lead 2-1 through goals from Mohamed Salah and Federico...
