Stefan Kiessling to see out Bayer Leverkusen contract after 'good' talks

Stefan Kiessling has scored 144 goals in 395 Bundesliga appearances.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling has said he will see out his contract, which runs until 2018.

Kiessling, 33, had contemplated retirement last year but has decided to play another season before ending his career.

He told Bild he had held "very good talks" with coach Heiko Herrlich and added: "I think that we can support each other very well."

Herrlich, appointed last week, said: "My credo is: Don't ask what the club can do for you, but what you can do for the club. And Stefan Kiessling...

Stefan Kiessling 'lost for words' after Bayer Leverkusen DFB Pokal defeat

Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling was left "lost for words" following the club's DFB Pokal defeat against 10-man third tier side Sportfreunde Lotte, while sporting director Rudi Voller blasted their "stupidity."

Leverkusen twice took the lead in front of capacity crowd in Lotte on Tuesday, but the hosts twice came back, despite being reduced to 10 men after 78 minutes, before winning on penalties.

Following a difficult start to the season, Leverkusen appeared to have lifted their 2016-17...

Bayer Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling may retire if injuries persist

Stefan Kiessling has been struggling with injuries.

Bayer Leverkusen forward Stefan Kiessling has admitted he may soon be forced to retire due to a persistent hip injury.

The 32-year-old signed a new contract through to 2018 earlier this year but he has raised doubts as to whether he will be able to see that out due to his chronic injury problem.

"It might happen [that I retire]," Kiessling told the Rheinische Post newspaper. "If the pain becomes too much and I realise that I have to sit out often, then I would have to be honest with myself and say...

Karim Bellarabi staying at Bayer Leverkusen, Stefan Kiessling commits

Karim Bellarabi has scored five Bundesliga goals this season.

Germany international Karim Bellarabi has pledged his allegiance to Bayer Leverkusen and will not activate his release clause.

Last week, local newspaper Express linked Bellarabi with a switch to Serie A club Inter Milan, and English clubs had also reportedly been interested in the Berlin-born winger, who is under contract at Bayer until 2020.

"It's true that I had interesting enquiries from Premier League and also from Spain," Bellarabi, who broke through into Bayer's senior squad following a loan...

Stefan Kiessling hints at exit from Bayer Leverkusen after starring in win

Stefan Kiessling scored twice and added two assists in what might have been his last game at Leverkusen.

An emotional Stefan Kiessling strongly hinted he was on his way out of Bayer Leverkusen -- after helping them to their biggest win of the season on Saturday.

The German forward was involved in four of his side's five goals in a 5-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, but admitted afterwards he might have played his last game for the club at the BayArena.

"I've got to be honest and say we'll have to see," said Kiessling as he appeared to fight back tears in an interview with Sky Sport Deutschland.

Bayer Leverkusen: We want Stefan Kiessling to stay put in January

Stefan Kiessling has been at Bayer Leverkusen since 2006.

Bayer Leverkusen will not allow Stefan Kiessling to leave the club in January -- unless he expresses a desire to move on.

Kiessling, 31, has made 300 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen since joining from Nurnberg in the summer of 2006, scoring 123 goals in that time, while reaching double figures in five of his nine seasons at the club.

This season, though, the Germany international has completed only six of 14 league games, scoring one goal, and has lost his place in the team to Javier Hernandez.
