Shanghai Shenhua could extend Carlos Tevez contract despite difficult season

Carlos Tevez was dropped from the squad for the Chinese FA Cup final against Shanghai SIPG.

Shanghai Shenhua have not ruled out extending Carlos Tevez's contract despite his disappointing first season in the Chinese Super League.

Tevez's campaign was beset by injuries and speculation that he wanted to return to Boca Juniors after leaving to sign a two-year contract with Shanghai in January.

But deputy general manager Zhou Jun told Shanghai TV there was a possibility that the 33-year-old's stay could be extended.

"We decided to buy Tevez because the AFC Champions League qualifying phase...

Shanghai Shenhua have rejected reports Carlos Tevez has been banished from the first team, but did challenge the forward "to show the real stuff."

Tevez has struggled to impress since joining Shenhua from Boca Juniors in December, having scored just three goals in 13 games.

Shenhua chairman Wu Xiaohui said last week the 33-year-old's form "didn't meet our expectations," while he has also been booed by his own team's supporters.

A double from Hulk led Shanghai SIPG's rout of Carlos Tevez's Shanghai Shenhua side.

Shanghai Shenhua striker Carlos Tevez has launched an attack on the capabilities of Chinese footballers, claiming those playing in the country will not be able to reach the top "even in 50 years."

The Argentine has spent the last nine months in China after joining Shenhua on a lucrative two-year contract from Boca Juniors in January,

"In South America and Europe, players learn to play football when they're kids, but not here," Tevez told SFR Sport. "So technically they are not very good.

Carlos Tevez is "overweight'' and will not play for Shanghai Shenhua again until he improves his fitness, according to the club's caretaker manager Wu Jingui.

The 33-year-old former Manchester United, Manchester City and West Ham forward joined Shenhua from Boca Juniors on Dec. 29 last year.

Yorke, Drogba, Suarez: top non-European scorers in Premier League

English Premier League: Sergio Aguero (25') Man City 1-0 Liverpool

Sergio Aguero might not be a guaranteed starter at Manchester City any more, but his goal against Liverpool on Saturday means he is guaranteed a place in the Premier League history books.

The Argentine opened the scoring in the emphatic 5-0 win at the Etihad to take his tally in the English top flight to 124 and become the top scoring non-European player in the division's history.

It has only taken Aguero 185 appearances across six-and-a-bit seasons to reach that number, and even if he were to...

Carlos Tevez signed a two-year deal with Shanghai Shenhua.

Carlos Tevez admitted the possibility of playing once again for Boca Juniors "is very difficult" ahead of the veteran forward's return to Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

The 33-year-old ended his second spell at Boca in December when he signed a two-year offer with the Chinese Super League outfit. Tevez, who has been recovering from a calf injury in his native Argentina, sat with his youngest son, Lito Jr., in one of the official boxes at La Bombonera on Sunday to watch his former club win their...
