Barcelona's Ernesto Valverde: Lionel Messi tired, but he always responds

Ernesto Valverde praises Lionel Messi's hard work for Barcelona at Atletico after a busy week with Argentina.

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has said Lionel Messi was suffering from "wear and tear" in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid.

Messi had a late chance to win the match, which brought an end to Barca's perfect Liga record, but fired a free kick straight at home goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

In La Plata, the capital of Argentina's Buenos Aires province, fans were waiting for one of the planet's great performers who, along with them, was waiting for the greatest of them all. Lionel Messi has name emblazoned across new custom boots

On the back of dragging Argentina to a World Cup, the one and only Lionel Messi has been furnished with a brand new pair of custom football boots with which to continue weaving his magic.

Adidas recently rolled out their new "Pyro Storm" boot pack, which sees the brand's signature boot lines redressed with a dazzling orange colourway to be sported by mere mortals such as Luis Suarez and Mesut Ozil in the coming weeks.

However, Messi is a class apart and as such, the Barcelona star has been bestowed...

Sergio Aguero: I'd love to see Lionel Messi join Manchester City

Janusz Michallik says not to read too much into Sergio Aguero's desire to have Leo Messi join Manchester City just yet.
Max Bretos and Herculez Gomez evaluate Lionel Messi's impact on Argentina's qualification for the World Cup.
Jorge Sampaoli says he gets emotional coaching Lionel Messi, whom he calls the best player in history.

Sergio Aguero has said he would "love" Lionel Messi to join him at Manchester City but acknowledged that it would be difficult for his compatriot to leave Barcelona.

Messi has yet to sign a new contract at the Camp Nou despite reportedly agreeing terms on a three-year extension in the summer.

City chief executive Ferran Soriano has said he would "open the doors" to Messi if he ever decided to leave, but manager Pep Guardiola believes he will finish his career at Barca.

Aguero told TyC Sports: "Let's...
