Wales international Joe Ledley signs for Derby on a free transfer

Joe Ledley was without a club since the end of last season.

Derby have signed Wales international midfielder Joe Ledley on a free transfer.

The 30-year-old had been without a club since his release by Crystal Palace at the end of last season and has now joined the Rams on a short-term deal until January.

Ledley, who has made 507 career appearances and scored 64 goals, will be available for Derby's Championship clash with Birmingham on Saturday.

Joe Ledley is looking for a new club after being released by Crystal Palace.

Wales midfielder Joe Ledley could be tempted by a move abroad as he weighs up his career options this summer.

Ledley made nearly 100 appearances for Crystal Palace after joining from Celtic in January 2014.

But he was frozen out by then-Eagles boss Sam Allardyce during the second half of the 2016-17 season and released by the Premier League club last week.

Wales midfielder Joe Ledley could miss Republic game if wife gives birth

Wales midfielder Joe Ledley could miss the World Cup qualifier against Republic of Ireland on Friday if his wife Ruby goes into labour before the game in Dublin.

The prospect of midfielder Ledley missing the game was raised by Crystal Palace teammate Wayne Hennessey, who spoke to reporters ahead of the Group D clash.

Ruby Ledley is due to give birth to the couple's third child a few days after Wales take on the group leaders.

Hennessey said: "Joe is hoping he doesn't get the call until the day after.

Wales not jealous of 'Tarzan' Gareth Bale's Real Madrid wage - Joe Ledley

Wales midfielder Joe Ledley has said there is "no jealousy" of Gareth Bale despite the Real Madrid star recently signing a lucrative contract with his club.

Last month, Bale, 27, signed a new six-year contract at Real, reportedly making him one of the highest-paid footballers in the world.

Ledley, who plays for Crystal Palace, said in The Guardian: "He deserves every penny and whatever he gets in life.

"He's proven to be one of the greatest players on this planet. There is no jealousy whatsoever....

Joe Ledley backs Wales to persevere through Joe Allen injury

Joe Ledley is confident that Wales can cope without his midfield partner Joe Allen for Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Georgia.

The in-form Allen limped off with hamstring trouble in the early second-half stages of Thursday night's 2-2 draw with Austria in Vienna.
