Sydney FC have marched to the top of the A-League table with a resounding 2-0 win over Western United at GMHBA Stadium on Sunday.

Adam Le Fondre struck twice in the first half to condemn Mark Rudan's side to their third consecutive loss and send the Sky Blues two points clear of Melbourne City.

Sydney's day was made difficult before it had even begun, with Milos Ninkovic ruled out before kick-off through illness and Anthony Caceres replacing him in the starting line-up.

Sydney FC star Adam Le Fondre insists the race for the Premiers Plate is not over despite sitting 10 points behind ladder leaders Perth with eight games to go.

Sydney FC have signed English striker Adam le Fondre on a multi-year deal to replace the departed Bobo.

Le Fondre, 31, was released by Bolton Wanderers earlier this week and has signed a contract with the Sky Blues that reportedly runs until 2021.

Brazilian star Bobo, who won the A-League's golden boot last season, has left for Turkish club Alanyaspor.

Nicknamed "Alfie," Le Fondre scored 41 goals in 110 appearances for Reading across three seasons in the English Premier League and second-tier Championship.
