Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton has had surgery on a dislocated shoulder and is likely to be out for months, manager Sean Dyche has said.

Heaton, 31, who has been capped three times by England, suffered the injury after landing awkwardly during the first half of the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend.

He underwent surgery on Wednesday and Dyche told a news conference on Thursday: "It won't be weeks, it will be a longer period.

Gareth Southgate to give Tom Heaton, Jack Butland chance against France

England boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed Tom Heaton and Jack Butland will share goalkeeping duties against France on Tuesday.
