CAF orders MRIs for teens ahead of U-17 Afcon qualifiers

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has directed all member nations to carry out magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) tests on their players ahead of 2019 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.

The MRIs are used to determine the ages of the teenagers, who must be under 17 to train ahead of the qualifiers, to avoid instances of possible age cheating. It's been used by FIFA since 2003 to ensure players are eligible, by scanning the bones in their wrists.

Former Arsenal player Emmanuel Eboue released on bail following arson claims

Former Arsenal player Emmanuel Eboue was reportedly arrested on suspicion of arson this weekend before being released by police.

The Mirror reported that Eboue was detained at a police station in North London on Saturday but was released on bail on Sunday.

Metropolitan Police would not confirm the name of the man arrested in the case but said in a statement that he would only face further enquiries in relation to "malicious communications" and not arson.

Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has told the Mirror he is financially ruined and is battling with suicidal thoughts.

Eboue, 34, has not played football since seeing his Sunderland contract cancelled after being hit with a year-long FIFA ban in March 2016 over a contractual dispute with a former agent.

The former Ivory Coast international said he is still living in the home he shared with his ex-wife Aurelie in North London before a divorce battle that saw her awarded all of their assets.

Former Arsenal and Sunderland defender Emmanuel Eboue has told SFR Sport that his year-long FIFA-imposed ban from football has been "like being in prison."

Eboue, 33, has been unable to play or even train with any club since late March last year after he was suspended by FIFA for failing to pay a reported near-€1 million debt to his former agent, Sebastien Boisseau.

Ex-Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has told the Daily Telegraph his one-year ban from football following a contractual dispute with a former agent has left him feeling suicidal.
